Jonathon Whooley

Jonathon Whooley is a full-time lecturer at San Francisco State University, where he teaches strategy and war, cybersecurity, American foreign policy, gender, critical security studies, terrorism, intelligence agencies, and global politics. He has co-authored with Laura Sjoberg: “Feminist Curiosity as Method” (2019), The Arab Spring and Arab Thaw: Unfinished Revolutions and the Quest for Democracy (2013) and with Mahmood Monshipouri in Human Rights in the Middle East: Frameworks, Goals, and Strategies (2011). His solo published work includes: “Ontological (In)visibility and Cyber Conflict: The Problem of Sight in Establishing Threat” (2021) in Alternatives: Global, Local, Political and Imagining Iran: Orientalism and Security Development in American Foreign Policy (2018). He was the managing editor of the International Feminist Journal of Politics in 2012 (IFJP). He received his PhD from the University of Florida (2015).
